GW3 Injury Watchlist
No preamble. Here are the players you need to make decisions on before GW3 locks, ranked by how much damage they can do to your rank if you get it wrong.
The Concerns, Ranked by Ownership
Jean-Philippe Mateta (CRY, 4.8% ownership, injured)
The highest-owned concern on this list. Mateta carries an injured status heading into GW3, making him the most pressing decision for managers. With 4.8% ownership, a blank from him will cost rank. Recommended action: sell unless you have strong reason to believe he recovers in time. Do not hold a confirmed injury at that price of ownership.
Moises Caicedo (CHE, 2.8% ownership, doubt)
Listed as a doubt. Caicedo is a set-and-forget type selection for many managers, but doubt status this early in the season is worth monitoring. Recommended action: hold for now, but keep a replacement identified. If he drops to injured before the deadline, move quickly.
Bruno Guimaraes (ARS, 2.6% ownership, doubt)
Bruno G. is a doubt for GW3. At 2.6% ownership, the rank hit of a miss is meaningful. Recommended action: hold and watch for lineup confirmation closer to deadline. Sell only if status worsens.
Jack Hinshelwood (BHA, 2.2% ownership, doubt)
Hinshelwood is flagged as a doubt at 2.2% selection. Brighton’s midfield options offer cover, but a blank here still stings. Recommended action: hold if you have him, and wait on team news.
Ismaila Sarr (CRY, 2.2% ownership, injured)
Sarr carries an injured status, the same tag as teammate Mateta. Two injured Palace attackers at similar ownership levels is a problem for managers with Crystal Palace coverage. Recommended action: sell. Do not hold two injured players from the same attack.
Marc Palestra (CHE, 2.1% ownership, doubt)
Planet FPL noted on their podcast that Palestra was not selected in Chelsea’s lineup, which may concern Fantasy owners. He carries a doubt status for GW3. At 2.1% owned, this is a moderate but real concern. Recommended action: monitor. If non-selection becomes a pattern, the exit case strengthens.
Jeremie Doku (MCI, 1.2% ownership, injured)
LetsTalkFPL warned of Doku’s potential injury ahead of Gameweek 1, and he now carries an injured status into GW3. Lower owned at 1.2%, but City’s attack is deep enough that a long absence matters less for rotation purposes. Recommended action: sell if you need the funds. Do not hold an injured player on a crowded Man City forward line.
Also Monitoring
- Dan Burn (NEW, 1.6%, injured) – Injured status. Low ownership limits rank damage, but sell if you have him and need a free transfer elsewhere.
- Matheus Nunes (MCI, 1.4%, doubt) – Doubt status. City’s depth softens the blow, but worth watching before deadline.
- Georginio Rutter (BHA, 1.0%, doubt) – Doubt at low ownership. Low priority decision but flag it if you are one of the 1.0% holding him.
Returners to Target
With Palace’s attack disrupted by both Mateta and Sarr carrying injured status, their opponents in GW3 become more attractive. Managers freeing up funds from those sales should look at differential options from sides with clean injury pictures heading into the weekend. Prioritise players with confirmed starts and no fitness flags in the data.
