Five gameweeks are in the books. That is a small sample, barely a sixth of the season, so treat every form number below as an early signal rather than a verdict. The question for GW7 is not “who is good” but “whose recent data is strong enough to act on now, before price and ownership catch up.”
What matters this week
- Form over a short window: figures range from 12.3 down to 0.0, which is a huge spread for just five gameweeks. That gap is real, but it can swing fast on one or two games.
- Price versus production: Groß at £6.0m with a 12.3 form and De Cuyper at £5.0m with 10.7 are generating returns well above their price point, which is the clearest edge in the data.
- Ownership already reacting: João Pedro is owned by 67.5% despite a form of 8.0, so a lot of that value may already be priced into squads. Schade at 15.9% ownership with an 8.3 form looks comparatively under-the-radar.
How to weigh it
When form is this new, weigh price and ownership before you weigh the raw number. A player putting up elite returns at a low price and low ownership, like De Cuyper or Schade, offers more upside because the market has not fully adjusted. A player with similar returns but high ownership, like João Pedro, is a hold rather than a fresh buy since the value is largely captured already. On the faller side, low form at low-to-mid price with meaningful ownership (5%+) is a stronger sell signal than the same form at minimal ownership, because more squads are actually exposed to the drag.
Risers: buy candidates
Groß (£6.0m, form 12.3, 36.9% owned) and De Cuyper (£5.0m, form 10.7, 32.5% owned) lead the pack from Brighton, both still affordable relative to output. Schade (£6.2m, form 8.3, only 15.9% owned) is the value pick of the group. João Pedro (£7.7m, form 8.0) is productive but already in two-thirds of squads, so it is confirmation, not a tip. Verbruggen (£4.5m, form 7.7, 21.4% owned) is a budget goalkeeper option worth a second look.
Fallers: sell candidates
Gakpo (£7.2m, form 1.3, 8.9% owned), M.Sangaré (£5.6m, form 1.7, 8.6%), Maguire (£4.8m, form 1.7, 7.8%), van Ewijk (£4.0m, form 0.0, 7.6%) and Egan (£4.1m, form 1.0, 7.4%) all combine low recent output with ownership above 5%. None of this means they are injured or dropped, the data only shows returns, so judge them on output alone.
Fade or hold dilemmas
João Pedro is the main dilemma: strong form but 67.5% ownership means little differential upside even if the output continues. Gakpo is the other one, a £7.2m asset with form of just 1.3, expensive enough that patience costs you elsewhere on the pitch.
If you are unsure
Default to the cheaper, lower-owned riser over the expensive, widely-owned one, and only sell a faller if its ownership and price are both working against your squad. With just five gameweeks played, avoid wholesale changes on form alone.
